The South Carolina Space Grant Consortium is pleased to host the 2013 Fall National Space Grant Directors' Meeting in Charleston, SC. Charleston is a city known for its enchantment and charm, as well as its fascinating beauty, history and culture. We hope you will join us here in the Lowcountry.

Row Your Boat Coastal Kayak Tour: $92 (0 seats remaining)
Approximately 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The tour will be determined by weather and costs includes transportation to/from Shem Creek, kayak rental, and the tour. Coastal Expedition, takes you on a breathtaking kayak tour to several points of natural beauty and historical significance. The tour will be led by a local ecologist, providing insight into the coastal life, the city's history, and more. For more information, check out the Coastal Expeditions daily tours

Explore the History Plantation Tour: $22 (0 seats remaining)
Approximately 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Middleton Place Plantation is a National Historic Landmark and home to America's Oldest Landscaped Gardens. The Garden Club of America has called the 65 acres "the most important and most interesting garden in America." Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America. The cost is for transportation only. Both plantation homes are near each other. The bus will therefore make two stops and so you may decide which home you would like to tour. Entrance fees are on your own. For more information check out Middleton Place or Magnolia Plantation.

Catch a Wave Coastal Marsh Boat Tour: $66 (0 seats remaining)
Approximately 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Tideline tours, owned by a local geologist/ecologist, takes you on a breathtaking tour to several points of natural beauty and historical significance. The tour ventures through the Lowcountry salt marsh and around Morris Lighthouse, built in the 1600s, and deactivated in 1962. The lighthouse, obviously built on land, now stands 300 yards offshore. This tour will end with a beautiful sunset view of the coastal environment. For more information, check out Tideline tours.

Shake it Up-Earthquake Brew Pub Walking Tour: $10 (0 seats remaining)
Approximately 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On August 31, 1886, Charleston, South Carolina, experienced the most damaging earthquake in the eastern United States. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.3 and was felt over 2.5 million square miles, from Cuba to New York, and Bermuda to the Mississippi. Join local geologist to uncover damage from the 1886 earthquake as you walk through the historic sections of downtown Charleston. The current rate is $174. The group rate may be available two days before and two days after the meeting, based on room availability.

Cancellations, Refunds, and Substitutions

All requests for cancellations or transfers must be submitted in writing to Cynthia Hall. You may receive a full refund of your conference registration (less a $75 processing fee) for cancellations received by September 21, 2013. Substitutions can be made at any time and must be submitted in writing to Cynthia Hall.
